| | 1 | 凡在軛下作僕人的、當以自己主人配受十分的恭敬、免得 神的名和道理、被人褻瀆。
All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered.

| | 2 | 僕人有信道的主人、不可因為與他是弟兄就輕看他．更要加意服事他．因為得服事之益處的、是信道蒙愛的。你要以此教訓人、勸勉人。
Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them. These are the things you are to teach and urge on them.

| | 3 | 若有人傳異教、不服從我們主耶穌基督純正的話、與那合乎敬虔的道理．
If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,

| | 4 | 他是自高自大、一無所知、專好問難、爭辯言詞、從此就生出嫉妒、分爭、毀謗、妄疑、
he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions

| | 5 | 並那壞了心術、失喪真理之人的爭競。他們以敬虔為得利的門路．
and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

| | 6 | 然而敬虔加上知足的心便是大利了．
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
| |
| | 7 | 因為我們沒有帶甚麼到世上來、也不能帶甚麼去．
For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

| | 8 | 只要有衣有食、就當知足。
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
| |
| | 9 | 但那些想要發財的人、就陷在迷惑、落在網羅、和許多無知有害的私慾裡、叫人沉在敗壞和滅亡中。
People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

| | 10 | 貪財是萬惡之根．有人貪戀錢財、就被引誘離了真道、用許多愁苦把自己刺透了。
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
| |
| | 11 | 但你這屬 神的人、要逃避這些事、追求公義、敬虔、信心、愛心、忍耐、溫柔。
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

| | 12 | 你要為真道打那美好的仗、持定永生．你為此被召．也在許多見證人面前、已經作了那美好的見證。
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

| | 13 | 我在叫萬物生活的 神面前、並在向本丟彼拉多作過那美好見證的基督耶穌面前囑咐你、
In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you

| | 14 | 要守這命令、毫不玷污、無可指責、直到我們的主耶穌基督顯現．
to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

| | 15 | 到了日期、那可稱頌獨有權能的、萬王之王、萬主之主、
which God will bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
| |
| | 16 | 就是那獨一不死、住在人不能靠近的光裡、是人未曾看見、也是不能看見的、要將他顯明出來。但願尊貴和永遠的權能、都歸給他。阿們。
who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

| | 17 | 你要囑咐那些今世富足的人、不要自高、也不要倚靠無定的錢財．只要倚靠那厚賜百物給我們享受的 神。
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

| | 18 | 又要囑咐他們行善、在好事上富足、甘心施捨、樂意供給人、〔供給或作體貼〕
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

| | 19 | 為自己積成美好的根基、豫備將來、叫他們持定那真正的生命。
In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

| | 20 | 提摩太阿、你要保守所託付你的、躲避世俗的虛談、和那敵真道似是而非的學問。
Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,

| | 21 | 已經有人自稱有這學問、就偏離了真道。願恩惠常與你們同在。
which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you.
